Small Things Can Mean a Lot

When Dad died in 2015 a few years after Mother, I set up a humble Geography endowment at their beloved and adored University of Arkansas. Mother especially loved geography, and it was one of my undergrad majors at the U of TX at Austin. Given my modest budget, I initially thought I’d just contribute a few grand. Instead, Arkansas showed me how, with a little bit of effort, I could set the contribution up as an endowment and do much better for everyone. The chairman of the Geography department then called me, saying it was the first “scholarship” or endowment ever given to Geography in the department’s history.

The fund has increased nicely, since its modest beginning. I expect it to be there doing good for a long, long time. How happy this all would have made my mom and dad.

I wanted you to share this report and short video that the U of Arkansas sent today:
